BECE ICT SUPPORT INITIATIVE

Bridging the Digital Divide in Rural Ghana

In Ghana’s rural communities, a significant number of students preparing for the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) study Information and Communication Technology (ICT) solely from textbooks. Despite ICT being a core subject, many students have never touched a computer, let alone practiced the applications they are expected to master in exams.

At Triple A Foundation, we believe education should be practical, inclusive, and empowering. That’s why we launched the BECE ICT School Outreach Initiative—a targeted effort to give rural students the opportunity to bridge the gap between theory and practice.

Why This Initiative Matters

📉 According to national education assessments and community observations, the lack of access to ICT tools is one of the greatest barriers to digital literacy in Ghana’s underserved areas. As the world becomes increasingly digital, this gap is more than an inconvenience, it’s a crisis of opportunity.

Students are being tested on tools they’ve never used, which affects their performance and confidence, and limits their ability to engage with technology beyond school.

Our First Stop: Nkoransa Akwakrom D/A JHS

We kicked off our outreach at Nkoransa Akwakrom D/A Junior High School, where we provided hands-on ICT training to eager and curious students. For many, this was their first time turning on a computer, using a mouse, or typing into Microsoft Word. The excitement and determination on their faces affirmed just how essential and overdue this initiative is.

What We Teach

The BECE ICT Outreach covers:

  • Basic computer operations
  • Introduction to Microsoft Word
  • File management and document formatting
  • Simulated BECE practical exercises

All delivered in an interactive, student-friendly format that ensures understanding and confidence-building.

Our Vision

This initiative is rooted in our commitment to UN Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education). We aim to:

  • Reach multiple rural schools across the Central Region and beyond
  • Equip over 1,000 BECE students with basic digital literacy
  • Support teachers with practical tools to reinforce ICT education
  • Close the digital divide in under-resourced communities

How You Can Support

Whether you’re an individual, a company, or an organisation, you can be part of this mission. We welcome:

  • Donations of laptops, projectors, and learning materials
  • Financial support to reach more schools
  • Volunteers with ICT skills to join our team

Together, we can make sure no child is left behind in the digital age.
